If you are in a crisis right now
If you or someone with you is in immediate danger, call 112 (the European emergency number, English available) or go to the nearest emergency room. Every hospital in Czechia can arrange a psychiatric consultation from ER.
Free 24-hour phone lines
- 116 111 — Linka bezpeci. For children and young adults up to 26. Czech and some English.
- 116 123 — Linka duvery. General 24-hour helpline, Czech.
- Modra linka (549 241 010). Youth and general support.
- Prague Integration Helpline and similar NGO lines provide direct English support during business hours.
Psychiatric emergency rooms (Prague)
Bohnice Psychiatric Hospital operates a 24-hour intake. The University Hospital (Vseobecna fakultni nemocnice) at Karlovo namesti has psychiatric on-call. General emergency rooms will hold you and arrange a psychiatric assessment if needed.
Psychiatric emergency (Brno)
Psychiatricka nemocnice Brno (Cernovice) operates 24-hour intake. St. Anne's University Hospital has psychiatric consultation through general ER.
If you are worried about someone else
Ask directly. Research shows asking about suicidal thoughts does not plant the idea — it reduces risk. Stay with them, remove immediate means of harm if you can, and call 112 if they are in danger. Follow up the next day. The window right after a crisis is the most important time to reach out again.
